Week 22: Catching you up on our life.

Playing catch up ...

Well its been a LONG time since I have been on here. With moving half way across the country, blogging was the last thing on my mind. Our move went great and we are glad to be back home in North Carolina. Although Steve and I miss the simplicity of life out in Kansas. Our house is just perfect for us and our pups are even more perfect. Thanks so much to my dad and Steve's grandpa for all the hard work put into our house. Barbie (Steve's dog that lived with his parents while he was active duty) is getting used to living with us. She is such a sweet and loving dog. Bella is the best little pup. She is almost 5 months old now!! She loves to play fetch and we are working on other training like lay down and stuff of that nature. Life in North Carolina is great. Bowman Gray racing is as redneck as ever and having cookouts at our place just makes it more like home. I started working at my old job again. I really missed the kids, parents, and my co-workers. I loved being a stay at home wife our first year of marriage and a stay at home mom could be a possibility once we decide to have kids. But for the time being I wanted to get out of the house, work, and get us a little extra spending money.

On Mother's day I decided to knock on the back porch door to get Steve to let me in. When I did the glass shattered and cut my arm open pretty bad. After going to the ER and getting stitches, I started the long process of getting a referral to the hand specialist. Tri-Care was my worst nightmare in this situation. After going to the hand specialist he decided I had to have surgery on my arm. I had glass stuck in my arm and the accident cut one of my tendons. The surgery was a week ago yesterday. I am doing well just ready to go get the stitches out tomorrow morning. I am in a specialty brace that was formed to my arm. I thank God they found the cut tendon when they did because the doctor said I should never have any problems with it once its healed.

Coupons!!!

I have became really interested in couponing. Not all crazy like the show but I will admit it is pretty addicting. My mom always did couponing when we were growing up. And being a child I never understood the importance of saving money. I guess she really was teaching me all those years, it just took me a while to use my brain. There is so much I can say about couponing but I think I will save that for my next shopping trip that I plan to write a blog about. But in the meantime here are some things that just might make you want to pick up the money saving hobby!!

A pack of stride gum was 1.58.
It was on sale for 2 packs for 2.00.
I had a 1.00 off coupon on 2 packs.
The store was doubling coupons that day/week.
That makes its 2.00 off 2 packs.
(Which the sale price is 2.00/2 packs).
Which means I got them for free!
I had 3 coupons so I got 6 packs of gum for free.

Quakers poppers snacks
On sale for 1.00 a bag.
I think they were originally like 1.50 a bag (but don't hold me to that).
I had a .55 off coupon.
The store was tripling coupons.
That's 1.65
They owed my .65
I had 3 coupons so they owed me 1.95 (which just goes to the rest of my bill).

Your not always going to get everything for free or even "dirt cheap" like the TV show makes it out to be but there are still ways to save lots of money.
With summer coming up I was in need of sunscreen/tanning oil.

Walgreen's had it on sale for B1G1 (buy one get one free) Banana boat brand.
It was 10.00 a bottle.
Which at small stores like this you will pay more compared to say somewhere like Wal-Mart so you have to watch out and see is the sale really worth it.
So that's 2 bottles for 10.00. (Remember its B1G1)
Which equals out to 5.00 a bottle
(That's already cheaper than Wal-Mart)
Then I had a 3.00 off coupon when you bought two. Which the free one is considered one of the two since its the store running the sale of it being free.
That's 7.00 for 2 bottles of sunscreen or 3.50 a piece!

Anyone interested in couponing yet?!

That's all for now but since we are settled back in to our North Carolina life I will be blogging more often. Look out for my couponing entry soon!
